HISTORY PAGE 2 OF 13 NEXT HISTORY PAGE Why is there an 'A' in the Company Number? In October 1926, the Boys' Brigade and Boys Life Brigade were united as one organisation. If there were two companies with the same number the oldest company retained their number and the younger company had a choice between having an alternative new number or adding an 'A' As there was also already an older 1st Birmingham Boys' Brigade Company they took the '1st' title. The 1st Boys Life Brigade being younger chose to add an 'A' and became the 1st A Birmingham Boys' Brigade. Donald Finnemore was a guiding force in the amalgamation of the two organisations. |
